Guest Artist

Synopsis:

The story of a young man coming face to face with his hero (Jeff Daniels) and exploring the tangled relationship between the dreams of youth and the wisdom of age.

Quick Thoughts:

I’ll start off by saying that I actually enjoyed this film – but not sure many others will. It’s based on the play of the same name, written by Jeff Daniels who also plays the lead character. It’s wordy, thought-evoking, and not happy. But it makes you stop and think. However, while it’s certainly a Christmas film because it’s set at the holidays (but doesn’t have to be…) I’m not quite sure it’s really a queer holiday film. The lead playwright is noted as gay – and he’s stereotypically bitter and jaded for a theatre playwright! – but that has zero relevance to the plot. So while I did enjoy this film, I’m on the fence on calling it a queer holiday film.
