Exmas

Synopsis:

When Graham decides to surprise his family by traveling home for Christmas, he is shocked to discover them already celebrating with an unexpected guest of honor, his ex-fiancée, Ali. The two exes battle it out to see who the family will pick to stay through Christmas Day and who must go.

Quick Thoughts:

Overall, I enjoyed “EXmas”. The premise a unique twist on the over-used coming home for the holidays story, although it has been used a few times in recent years so it’s not entirely fresh. But one thing’s for certain, it’s not a queer holiday film. So why have I included it in the Database? Because Graham’s younger sister,Mindy, is a lesbian. But other than a brief kiss while at the bar, that’s all we see or hear about Mindy and her life. And the back and forth battles between Graham and Ali is comical, but gets a bit over the top. And of course, we know that in the end they make up. I wasn’t expecting the sudden twist, but thankfully it didn’t completely ruin the overall positive spirit of a holiday film. “EXmas” is worth watching, but just don’t expect much from the queer storyline.
