The Gift

1.0

Synopsis:

Alan is tired of being outgifted so he frantically shops with his friend for the perfect Christmas gift for his partner, James. A day of shopping reminds Alan that the perfect gift, the love he shares with James, was there all the time.

Quick Thoughts:

This queer holiday short intrigued me because of its synopsis. While I cannot personally attest to the struggle of buying the right gift for your partner, I can certainly relate to the struggle. I absolutely loved how the writers used this plot device as a means to show flashbacks over the years Alan and James spent together! However, I was certainly NOT prepared for the shocking twist halfway through. On one hand, it’s perhaps the best gift a loved one can give – yet is also macabre and the short should have ended there. Yet it continued onward in a way that left me puzzled with an ending that did not feel like an ending. In the end, I leave it up to you to decide if you will enjoy “The Gift”.
