Quick Thoughts:
“A Jenkins Family Christmas” is another of the growing family drama holiday ensemble films. Sure, it’s easy to create drama and be able to tell multiple storylines with this format, but it’s a trope that’s getting to be overused. However, this queer holiday is one that’s actually enjoyable to watch! The queer aspect is mainly due to Kenny bringing home his boyfriend – except his mom and dad, now the head of the family, don’t accept him. (And it’s a little unclear if they even knew he was gay as well…) But overall, the film is about family coming together, despite all their flaws, differences, and hidden secrets. In the end, everything wraps up rather nicely. It’s a good watch for a queer holiday film!
