The Christmas Lottery

Synopsis:

The Davenport sisters have drifted apart over the years, but when their dad wins the lottery, all he wants is having his girls home for Christmas. Getting over years of resentment proves a big task but it’s pushed aside when their mother, who suffers from dementia, loses the ticket. They put aside their differences to help find the ticket and in doing so get over their differences and finally learn to come together.

Quick Thoughts:

I like the premise behind “The Christmas Lottery”, because it’s a unique twist on the typical cliche city-girl comes home for the holidays and finds love. Of course, that happens for both Nicole and Tammy. And I was pleasantly surprised with the extra twist of their mother having Dementia. Which of course adds a comical yet heartfelt twist to the typical family drama where everyone has secrets they’re not keen to reveal. But at the heart of the story is a lesbian romance between Diedre and her wife, Belinda, with a dash of parental acceptance to make it even more heartfelt. Overall, “The Christmas Lottery” is an enjoyable holiday film with a lesbian romance. Definitely worth watching this holiday season!
