Christmas on the Square

Synopsis:

Regina “Scrooge” is selling her small hometown with a short eviction notice to its tenants just before Christmas. She inherited the town half a year ago when her dad died. A mall will be built there. The minister calls for a “Resist Regina!” meeting at the church 8pm. Regina has just one eviction notice to deliver as the general store was closed – to Carl, her high school sweetheart. Can he, the concerned doctor, minister, town folk and angel magic change Regina’s mind about the mall and evictions? —Scott Filtenborg

Quick Thoughts:

“Christmas On The Square” is yet another holiday film starring Dolly Parton, with many similar & iconic holiday film tropes. But my underlying question is whether it’s queer or not? Yes, there are gay hairdressers and many scenes are quite camp. In the end, I think this is a nice queer holiday musical film but it’s only queer by association and side characters rather than a queer storyline.
