Turkey Drop

Synopsis:

Lucy Jacobs, a freshman university student, returns home to her small town for Thanksgiving break and suspects she’s about to get turkey dropped— aka dumped by her high school sweetheart. To avoid a Turkey Day travesty, Lucy gets out of her comfort zone, proving she’s not the same play-it-safe girl she once was.

Quick Thoughts:

“Turkey Drop” is a rather typical holiday ensemble film; full of cliches & tropes with a plot you can see right through. Although the twist from Lucy’s boyfriend is a bit of a surprise, even if we already know it’s over. However, the reason this Thanksgiving film is in the Database is because Lucy’s sister is a lesbian, AND brings her girlfriend home to meet the family!

But what I really enjoyed was the fact that there was absolutely no issues with this from anyone. We’ve finally hit the point where you can have a queer relationship in a film that doesn’t need to be explained or a key point of the plot. Granted, they could’ve chosen an overall better film! But hey, we take what we get. If you don’t mind cliche films, then give this one a watch.
