Nobody’s Hero

(Viens je t’emmène)

Synopsis:

Christmas Eve is ruined by an act of terrorism in the city of Clermont-Ferrand. As the city descends into panic, thirty-something Mederic falls in love with older prostitute Isadora.

Quick Thoughts:

Well, I’m almost as confused at the end of this queer holiday film than I was by knowing almost nothing about it at the start! There is a bit to unpack here, it deals with terror attacks, accusations, prostitution, and more. The gay element isn’t shown until rather late in the film, and not exactly a key plot point. Nor does it really feel that festive either, despite being clearly set at the holidays. And while there’s a decent amount of sex shown – it’s heterosexual sex. So unless you’re keen on watching a dark, French film that forces you to think rather than just detach and enjoy yourself – perhaps you should skip this? However it is interesting if you do chose to watch this queer holiday film.
