Meet Me In St. Louis

Synopsis:

St. Louis 1903. The well-off Smith family has four beautiful daughters, including Esther and little Tootie. 17-year old Esther has fallen in love with the boy next door who has just moved in, John. He however barely notices her at first. The family is shocked when Mr. Smith reveals that he has been transfered to a nice position in New York, which means that the family has to leave St. Louis and the St. Louis Fair.

Quick Thoughts:

While there aren’t any queer characters in “Meet Me In St. Louis”, this is still a queer film. After all, it stars our beloved Judy Garland! This film was also when she met Vincente Minnelli, whom she later married and together they had another beloved gay icon, Liza Minnelli. And we all give a little wink & cheer when singing “make the yuletide gay” during the classic holiday song “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”. It may not have a queer storyline, but this classic film certainly belongs on this list!
