Deadpool

Synopsis:

This is the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Quick Thoughts:

“Deadpool” is a tad bit of an enigma. Those who are fans of the Deadpool comics will know that there is no doubt that Deadpool is pansexual, the film adaption is not so clear. Not only is he in an apparently heterosexual relationship with a woman, any remarks regarding pansexual attributes are played off for comedic value. In some ways, it could almost be a mockery; taking the stance “Deadpool will have sex with anything that moves”. Some critics have remarked that if this is part of an effort to depict Deadpool as pansexual, it’s not a positive representation. It’s been a while since I watched “Deadpool” so I cannot attest one way or the other. But we cannot ignore the fact that in comics, it’s quite clear that Deadpool IS pansexual.
