Trevor: The Musical

Synopsis:

When an incident at school suddenly puts Trevor in the wrong spotlight, he struggles to navigate his own identity and determine how he fits in a challenging world.

Quick Thoughts:

I have to confess that I have not yet seen “Trevor The Musical”. Nor have I seen the Oscar winning short film that this filmed stage musical is based on: “Trevor”. However, I am familiar with the important LGBTQ helpline that was founded as a result of the real life story of Trevor: The Trevor Project. Unfortunately reviews seem to be mixed. Some lament the fact that such an important story was given the “Broadway treatment”, because singing about self-acceptance when the lead’s journey is actually not that positive seems a bit juxtaposing. Others critique the actual performance of the cast, with some going so far as to warn anyone who enjoys musical theater to stay away. However until I have the chance to watch “Trevor The Musical” myself, I reserve any finite judgement.
