The Christmas Writer

Synopsis:

When a bestselling lesbian Christmas author is paralyzed by writer’s block after her mother’s passing, she returns to her hometown searching for inspiration-and finds it in the form of a charming single mom who owns the local bookstore, forcing her to choose between the life she built and the love she never saw coming. —Christin Baker

Quick Thoughts:

I have to confess that not only am I usually not a fan when someone tackles both the writer & director roles on a film, nor that I am not a huge fan of her sapphic holiday films, it’s clear that Christin Baker and Katie I. Williams are hitting their stride with “The Christmas Writer”. With multiple cute interactions between Callie and Noel, this lesbian romance builds slowly and naturally. However, I felt the wrinkle in their budding romance was a bit too contrived. This sapphic holiday romcom may not be without a few irks, but certainly is a welcome addition to the queer holiday oeuvre!
