Killer Condom

(Kondom des Grauens)

Synopsis:

A lecherous college professor takes a student to a sleazy New York motel, and becomes the first victim of a sharp-toothed, murderous condom. Assigned to the case, Luigi Mackeroni, a gay cop, visits the motel, picks up young hustler Billy and takes him to a room, where they barely escape intact from an attack by another vicious prophylactic. Mackeroni must then overcome the understandable doubts of his superiors to launch a full investigation into the deadly condoms.

Quick Thoughts:

I didn’t have high hopes for “Killer Condom”: it’s a B-Movie, foreign film yet set in NYC, and it revolves around a killer condom… Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised. I really loved this queer sci-fi film! Is it as absurd as it sounds – absolutely. Yet it’s not just a sci-fi film, but part thriller, part mystery, and even part comedy. Luigi is the main protagonist, often utilising voiceovers to give the viewer a glimpse into his own reflections as the story unfolds. And even though the love interest is a bit quirky (a detective and a street hustler), it actually is rather endearing to watch. Heck, even the quirky mad scientist who developed the “killer condom” and the even wackier nurse who thinks she’s going to bring the salvation of the Lord down to Earth actually fit well within the entire gist of the film. Even though it’s subtitled, I encourage any sci-fi fan to find yourselves a copy of “Killer Condom”. You’re in for a treat!
