P.S. Your Cat Is Dead!

Synopsis:

Jimmy and Kate are in the middle of a break-up and completely oblivious to the fact that they’re being robbed, by a gay guy. Kate splits, leaving Jimmy alone in the house with the burglar. They confront one another, start talking, and suddenly Jimmy’s wondering if he’s really, you know, “sensitive”.

Quick Thoughts:

This New Year’s Eve film is a fun rollercoaster. It starts off a bit dreary and slow, but boy does it pick up fast! I don’t want to reveal too many of the great moments, because they are best enjoyed as it unfolds. This queer holiday is quite farcical, but has a dash of seriousness and honesty that I was truly not expecting given the setup.

Now it is rather dated, but at the same time quite progressive. Sure, we have a bit of the “gay guy is the bad guy” trope at play, but there’s a self-discovery for Jimmy that is unique to see portrayed in such a positive way for early 2000’s. He’s most likely bisexual, even if they don’t actually say that bit out loud. Overall, this queer holiday film was a great choice to watch for New Year’s Eve and have an enjoyable experience!
