A Picture Perfect Holiday

Synopsis:

Gaby is a successful fashion photographer, but when she tries to get a full-time job at a fashion magazine they say that her photography lacks breadth, and a friend advises her to attend a Christmas photography course in the Rocky Mountains to try to widen her experience. She books a cabin and goes to the Rockies to advance her chances to get the job. Upon arrival she learns that the cabin has been double-booked and that nature photographer Sean also rented it. There are no other vacancies in the area, so they are forced to share the cabin. They are very different, personality-wise and in their photography methods. During the course, though, they learn from each other–and could romance be in the air?

Quick Thoughts:

I was pleasantly surprised with “A Picture Perfect Holiday”. Although the queer storyline is not obvious from the marketing or the synopsis, we have a lesbian couple right beside the lead heterosexual romcom storyline. In fact, it’s rather intertwined because all four of them end up in the same group in the photography course. There’s even a cute twist where both Dani and Amelia want to propose to the other, and even confess this plan to Gabe and Sean separately. I did feel that Gaby was a bit too standoffish at first, but thankfully she softens as the film progresses. And it ends with both couples happy, so overall it’s a cute TV holiday romcom. If you don’t mind the sapphic storyline not being the main romance, then “A Picture Perfect Holiday” is a cute queer holiday film worth watching!
