The Way He Looks

(Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho)

Synopsis:

Leonardo is a blind teenager dealing with an overprotective mother while trying to live a more independent life. To the disappointment of his best friend, Giovana, he plans to go on an exchange program abroad. When Gabriel, a new student in town, arrives at their classroom, new feelings blossom in Leonardo making him question his plans.

Quick Thoughts:

“The Way He Looks” is a feature film that expands upon the storyline of the short film, “I Don’t Want to Go Back Alone”; both written and directed by . This film is an endearing yet realistic story of adolescence while working to determine one’s attraction to others – and what that means for one’s sexuality. It’s simple and quite beautiful. I also found it heartwarming because Leonardo is blind, as if to advise us all that love can also be blind; it’s our hearts that lead us to the person’s we love, whomever they may be. If you haven’t seen “The Way He Looks Yet”, then it is an absolutely must-watch!
